Samuel Adams Noble Pils

December 1st, 2012 by Android | Filed under Uncategorized.

DISB Rating– 95 – This is truly a great session beer.
TMTB rating – 95 – Primarily because it is probably the best German Pils reasonably available in the U.S. it gets a 95. It does not creep higher because of the relative availability of Sierra Nevada Summerfest and Pilsener Urquell on tap. Pilsener Urquell may be inferior to Sam Adams Noble Pils and is certainly more inconsistent in the U.S. even off the tap, but it is the original Pilsener and gets a 99 on influence points alone.
Style Rating – 97 – Probably the best German Pils reasonably available in the U.S.

I was drinking a Sammy Noble Pils and it reminded me of another great Massachusetts statesman, John F. Kennedy. 1 Such a thought naturally raises the burning question: Who had JFK assassinated? The answer: John F. Kennedy!2 He was heavily sedated suffering from severe back problems from a war injury, Addison’s Disease;3 his agenda, civil rights, the space Program, and Vietnam seemed to be collapsing on him, while Cuba and the Bay of Pigs was a continuing black eye;4 with his near constant philandering he had more skeletons in the closet than a Boris Karloff horror flick;5 Lee Harvey Oswald was part of Robert Kennedys Anti Castro Counter Intelligence Program.6, 7 Even with these weaknesses I would have reelected him if I could have voted and overall he is better and far more interesting than most of his cohort who have sat in the oval office. Kind of the way I feel about Samuel Adams Noble Pils – far from perfect but a damn sight better than most of the other choices out there.8

1. For those of you who do not remember, before becoming a world famous Beer brand Samuel Adams was a revolutionary leader and governor of Massachusetts. See Samuel Adams – Brewer and First American: Part One, and Samuel Adams – Brewer and First American: Part Two

2. The Editor’s – We would respond “What the #%@&!?” but in our continuing efforts to reduce our reliance upon expletives we offer this alternative: “The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” , Animal House (1978)

3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addison%27s_disease “Famous Addisonians” a chronic and debilitating adrenal disorder and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Kennedy “The combination included hormones, animal organ cells, steroids, vitamins, enzymes, and amphetamines, and potential side effects included hyperactivity, hypertension, impaired judgment, nervousness, and significant mood swings.[244] Kennedy at one time was regularly seen by no fewer than three doctors, one of whom, Max Jacobson was unknown to the other two, as his mode of treatment was controversial[245]”

4. He feared the civil disobedience of his allies, possibly losing his staunchest allies if he openly opposed them or alienating vast swathes of northern white voters if he openly supported them. The south was obviously gone when he had to send Federal troops just to get a symbolic student enrolled in the University of Alabama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Kennedy The Russians were beating the piss out of us in the space race at the time, embarrassing the US in Cuba, and his Vietnamese allies were so brutal corrupt he had to assassinate the South Vietnamese President. http://www.historynet.com/the-assassination-of-ngo-dinh-diem.htm

6. “My own feeling was that Bobby was worried that there might be some conspiracy and that it might be his fault…..It might very well have been that he was worried that the investigation would somehow point back to him.” Nicholas Katzenbach, former Asst. Attorney General

“One of your guys did it.” RFK to Harry Ruiz-Williams re: Oswald? . . . Ruiz-Williams one of his closest advisors in the program and may have even selected and run some of the operatives.

7. The Editor’s – The most logical conclusion is that Oswald, much like Android here, was an insane loner with whom nobody wanted to work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Harvey_Oswald

8. The Editors – why do we even bother. .. Samuel Adams Noble Pils – A pilsener style lager Colour – Pale Golden, maybe half a shade darker than the Sierra Nevada. Aroma – subdued citrus/grass/evergreen notes. Body : Light but well formed. Flavour: Slight sweetness on the front end with a hint of crackeriness( A little more sweetness on the front end, than the Summerfest which had no hint of cracker). Long aromatic dry peppery bitter after taste with a very slight hint of grassiness. Moderately carbonated. A world conquering beer.
