Saranac Red IPA

DISB Rating– 84 Unfortunately more bells and whitsles than substance
TMTB rating – 84 More of the same, it does not impress as an IPA, although more interesting than their standard IPA the “red” effect is not exciting enough to push it higher. Normally, the Saranac name carries weight in this rating category as a major player in the craft beer industry, but since this is not one of their flagship brews that make it something every serious beer drinker should try at least once. It is sort of a one off brew, that does not really impress.
Style Rating – 80 An underwhelming example of a quasi-IPA, it loses points for not being a true IPA and the red malt and color effects fail to make them all up again, although add enough to keep it out of the 70 range.
Saranac red ipa aroma caramel with a hint of clove head aggressive moderately slow retreat significant large clump lacing. Color very deep a Amber to garnet. Alittle caramel on front end with rapidly intruding moderate hop bitterness and lingering dog whistle of caramel. Medium Body moderately high carbonation.
