DISB Rating– 90
TMTB rating – 97 – On the name and label alone practically
Style Rating – 93 – Not exactly sure what style it is, but it is pretty good

The Campiness of the name He’Brew Genesis Dry Hopped Session Ale from Shmaltz Brewing Company, makes me think of the Musical Rock of Ages. Combine the worst aspects of marginal pop music by Fleetwood Mac\The Eagles wannabes and watered down heavy metal, cram that music into a Broadway Show and you get “Rock of Ages.” 1 Making a Musical that combines the worst music of the late 70’s and early 80’s with a second rate pap love story may be a sure-fire hit with the same crowd that elected that moron George W. Bush president and still think Iraq orchestrated 9/11. It is certainly not the faire of more evolved beings. Only gay men could have dreamed this up because the musical value of the score is so absurdly low it is absolutely campy. I am sure someone is laughing all the way to the bank because he/she just harvested gold from hayseeds. The name He’brew Genesis is absolutely campy, but the beer is not.2 As its title indicates, a really solid choice for a session beer if you like heavier hopped Pale Ales or IPA’s.

1. The Editor’s – The German’s bombed Pearl Harbor? – Why do we even bother!?! – He’brew Genesis Dry Hopped Session Ale from Shmaltz Brewing Company. Aroma beer with Dog Whistles of sweet grass/carmelizing sugar, pine, flowers, citrus; Head – fluffy airy; Color – clear amber; Flavour sweet slight rose or floral sweet front end, followed by a long deep bitter back end that is slightly drying and counterbalanced by a lingering floral sweetness. Technically not an IPA, but very Similar to an IPA, but dryer than sweet IPA’s like Harpoon and more similar to dryer IPA’s like Lagunitas. Good stuff, long on flavour, and would make a very passable session beer for an IPA drinker or others looking for a change of pace.
